New Queen of the Ice Isn't From USA

Feb. 20, 2014— -- With only three days left of the 2014 Winter Olympics, the U.S. has pushed up to second place on day 14 with a total of 25 medals (8 gold, 6 silver and 11 bronze), just behind Norway and ahead of Germany and Russia.

Maddie Bowman stole the podium today at Rosa Khutor Extreme Park, skiing in ahead of the competition and winning gold for the U.S. in the first-ever women's halfpipe in Olympic competition.

A nail-biting battle on ice between the U.S. and Canadian women's hockey teams saw the Americans win silver after falling to their rivals 3-2 in overtime.

Women's Curling

Gold: Canada

Silver: Sweden

Bronze: Great Britain

Britain beat Switzerland 6-5

Canada Beat Sweden 6-3

Skiing

Men's Ski Cross Finals

Gold: Jean Frederic Chapuis (France)

Silver: Arnaud Bovolenta (France)

Bronze: Jonathan Midol (France)

Women's Halfpipe Final

Gold: Maddie Bowman, United States

Silver: Marie Martinod, France

Bronze: Ayana Onozuka, Japan

American Brita Sigourney came in 5th.

Nordic Combined: Men's Large Hill/4x5-Kilometer

Gold: Norway 47:13.5

Silver: Germany 47:13.8

Bronze: Austria 47:16.9

Figure Skating: Women's free program

Gold: Adelina Sotnikova, Russia

Silver: Yuna Kim, Korea

Bronze: Carolina Kostner, Italy

American Ashley Wagner skated a clean program but finished in 7th place. This is the first time since 1936 that the U.S. has failed made the Olympic podium in both the men's and ladies singles

Women's Ice Hockey

Gold: Canada

Silver: United States

Bronze: Switzerland

Switzerland beat Sweden 4-3; Canada beat U.S. 3-2
