Nike will raise prices and return to selling on Amazon: What to know
Sneaker giant Nike is expected to raise prices and return to selling on Amazon after a more than five-year break.
The retailer will increase prices starting in June on apparel, equipment and footwear for adults but doesn't plan to raise prices on children's products, products under $100, Air Force 1s, or any Jordan clothing or accessories.
Adult clothing and equipment prices may increase between $2 and $10, while shoes and sneakers between $100 and $150 will increase by $5, and footwear over $150 will increase up to $10.
The price increases are expected to take effect June 1.
"We regularly evaluate our business and make pricing adjustments as part of our seasonal planning," Nike said in a statement to "Good Morning America."
Although Nike did not cite President Donald Trump's tariffs on goods coming into the U.S. as a reason for the price increases, the move comes as numerous retailers and brands have begun implementing or planning for price hikes amid rising costs of source materials and more.
Nike initially left Amazon in 2019 and is returning to the e-commerce giant's platform in a bid to boost revenue and market share under CEO Elliott Hill, who became Nike's president and chief executive in October 2024.
"Nike is investing in our marketplace to ensure we're offering the right products, best services, and tailored experiences to consumers wherever and however they choose to shop," Nike said in a statement to "GMA" Friday. "This includes expanding to new digital accounts, including Amazon in the U.S., new physical partners like Printemps, elevating retail experiences across the marketplace, and launching Nike's AI powered conversational search to improve our online services."
An Amazon spokesperson also confirmed to "GMA" new Nike products coming to the online shopping platform.
"While independent sellers have listed some Nike inventory in our store for many years, Amazon will soon begin sourcing a much wider range of Nike products directly to expand our selection for U.S. customers," the spokesperson said. "We value independent sellers, and we're providing an extended period of time for the small number of sellers affected to sell through their inventory of overlapping items."
