1st look at 1 of Zoo Atlanta's new giant pandas Fu Shuang
Zoo Atlanta is giving panda fans a new look at one of its newest arrivals.
The zoo released a new video of female giant panda Fu Shuang on Wednesday, just days after she and male giant panda Ping Ping arrived in Atlanta from China over the weekend.
In its first update on the pair since their arrival, Zoo Atlanta said both pandas are settling into their new home and have exceeded the animal care team's expectations as they acclimate.
"Both Ping Ping and Fu Shuang are eating well and adjusting more and more each day," the zoo said.
The pandas are not yet visible to visitors as they undergo a routine quarantine period, which is expected to last around a month. Zoo Atlanta said it will announce at a later date when the public will be able to meet them.
Ping Ping and Fu Shuang arrived at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport on Sunday, Sept. 27, aboard a FedEx "Panda Express" Boeing 777.
The pair traveled from China as part of a new giant panda conservation agreement between Zoo Atlanta and the China Wildlife Conservation Association.
Both pandas were born in 2020 at the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding in China.
Their arrival marks the return of giant pandas to Zoo Atlanta nearly two years after the zoo's previous pandas returned to China in October 2024.
Zoo Atlanta is now one of three zoos in the United States with giant pandas and the only one in the Southeast.
