More than 122,000 cases of Gatorade are being voluntarily recalled due to undeclared food dyes, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

The recalled cases of Gatorade Lemon Lime, Gatorade Lemon Lime Zero, Gatorade Orange and Gatorade Orange Zero were distributed in more than two dozen states, the FDA said.

The recall impacts 28-ounce bottles of Gatorade Lemon Lime, Lemon Lime Zero, Orange, and Orange Zero that did not declare the presence of Yellow No. 6 and/or Yellow No. 5 colors and bear lot dates between April 2027, May 2027 and June 2027. A full list of lot dates and states where the recalled drinks were distributed can be viewed on the FDA website.

According to the FDA, the recall was initiated Sept. 25 and the federal agency classified the recall on Oct. 2 as a Class II recall, meaning exposure to or the consumption of the recalled Gatorade drinks "may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences or where the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote."

The FDA notes that the side effects of these dyes could include a mild rash or allergic-type asthma, though this is uncommon in the general population and more frequently seen among people who have allergic reactions to aspirin.

The FDA notes that color additives are commonly found in processed foods and drinks and may be used for various reasons, including to add color to colorless foods, enhance colors, even out colors in foods exposed to air, light, moisture, different temperatures and other factors.

ABC News has reached out to PepsiCo, which owns Gatorade, for comment.
