Meet Bone Jovi, the cat guarding Brooklyn's Bone Museum
As Take Your Pet to Work Week begins, one Brooklyn cat is showing that some pets have jobs of their own.
Bone Jovi is the resident feline at The Bone Museum in Brooklyn, where he serves as the unofficial guardian of a collection of human bones and anatomical specimens.
"We have people coming to the museum just to see the cat. We have people that come to the museum not even knowing that we have a cat, and they leave so excited," Operations Director Masha Potemkin told ABC News.
Bone Jovi joined the museum after being adopted from Best Friends Animal Society during an adoption event last June.
"We immediately saw Bone Jovi," Potemkin said. "He was the chubbiest, calmest cat out of the bunch."
The museum houses hundreds of bones and anatomical specimens, including what Potemkin said are 180 real spinal columns that visitors can view and, in some cases, interact with as part of the educational experience.
Bone Jovi spends much of his time roaming the galleries, greeting visitors and keeping watch over the collection. He wears a bone-shaped collar and is often seen playing with a skeletal fish toy.
Since arriving at the museum last June, Bone Jovi has become a familiar sight for guests exploring the exhibits, greeting visitors as they make their way through the collection.
