Drew Barrymore said she is open with her children about her ups and downs throughout her legendary career.

"I have to talk to my kids about all my wild days," Barrymore, now a mother of two daughters, 10-year-old Olive and 9-year-old Frankie, told ABC Audio. "Now I'm like, 'Oh, I knew this was all going to come up at some point.'"

"I love talking to other people who didn't know they were going to be moms at those points, too," she continued. "... Life is such an interesting journey full of so many chapters. But the only thing I really want to do is just not feel awkward about any of those chapters because there was already enough awkward feelings going through them. I don't want to feel awkward looking back on them."

"I think we just need to celebrate our histories and be excited about all the things it took for us to become whoever it is we are today, if you're happy with that person," Barrymore said.

The 48-year-old talk show host is also well aware that she has been the teenage crush for a generation of people -- and she's quite a good sport about it.

"I've been in mom mode for almost 11 years now -- 12 if you count the pregnancy, when it really just everything changes. So, yeah, for the last 12 years I haven't thought of myself in any sexy terms, so I'll take it!" she laughed. "I'm single!"

"I'm glad I had a libidinous situation at one point in my life, great!" she added with a smile. And yes, when fans meet her, some aren't shy to say they crushed on her. "I'm always like, 'Thanks, I'm thrilled you saw me that way, at some point.'"

Two people that Barrymore can't get enough of -- in addition to kiddos -- are pals Jennifer Aniston and Adam Sandler.

Barrymore recently collaborated with Aniston on a sketch for Sandler at the Kennedy Center Honors this spring, with the pair taking jabs at each other as to who was a closer friend of the "SNL" vet: Barrymore, who starred alongside Sandler in "The Wedding Singer" and "50 First Dates," or Aniston, who appeared with him in the "Murder Mystery" movies and "Just Go with It."

"We love Sandler so much, but we don't want to go out there and just be like, 'Well, we love him.' That's just too soft," she said. " So we were like, 'Let's go for it.' But s---, now that we've decided to go for it, how are you going to pull this off? So we leaned on writers and we leaned on each other, and it was a very wonderful experience and it gave us a taste of what it's like to work together with Sandler. And like, now I just want more."

So does that mean the three of them are going to make a movie together? "I might have just texted them some pictures the other day of some inspiration," Barrymore teased. "And as in, like, I did. I think it's possible. I certainly would be game."
