Hosted by Robert Irwin, the series takes place in Australia, where the contestants live and train together while taking on weekly dance challenges designed to test the skills needed to become a "DWTS" pro.

Along with permanent judges Shirley Ballas and Mark Ballas, a rotating lineup of guest judges mentors the contestants before helping decide who stays and who goes.

"The show did a really great job of setting up challenges for these dancers," Mark Ballas told ABC Audio ahead of the inaugural season premiere. "Whether it's choreographing, group work, chemistry, teaching challenges, these are the things that you face as a pro on 'Dancing with the Stars.'"
