BTS' world tour comes four years after the group announced on social media that they were planning to take an "extended period of rest" in December 2021.

The group has been on hiatus since 2022, which allowed all seven members to serve their mandatory military service in South Korea.

In July 2025, the K-pop stars announced that they would release a new album. BTS' record label, Big Hit Music, announced earlier this month that the group will release the new album -- their fifth studio project -- on March 20.
