Once stopped, Spears, the sole occupant of the vehicle, showed signs of impairment and took field sobriety tests, according to the CHP. The results of the chemical test are pending, and the incident is still under investigation.

Spears is slated to appear in Ventura County Superior Court on May 4, 2026, according to arrest records.

Ventura County is a coastal region in Southern California which shares a border with Los Angeles to the southeast.

A representative for Spears shared a statement with ABC News on Thursday following the singer's arrest.
